Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team at Leviton. As a key member of our Network Solutions Business Unit, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex electrical systems and programming necessary for the operation of equipment and machinery used in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for equipment and machines with senior engineers or managers to support manufacturing
  • Develop programs to control PLCs, HMIs, actuators, servos, motion controllers, and vision systems
  • Develop equipment in an organized manner using project schedules and spreadsheets to manage component ordering and fabrication
  • Document programs and electrical systems of equipment and machines using appropriate programs in accordance with safety requirements and quality system procedures
  • Specify and order electrical components needed to support the operation of equipment
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and machinery in support of production, quality, and design engineering groups
  • Assemble, wire, program, install, and debug equipment purchased or developed internally
  • Document operating manuals for equipment and machines developed internally or purchased
  • Couch and mentor less experienced department personnel to develop their skills and abilities
Requirements
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical equipment and processes
  • Ability to develop machine programs and documentation using machine programming languages
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot industrial communication networks
  • Ability to develop complex machine and equipment electrical specifications
  • Ability to complete the assembly and wiring of machines to specifications and supervise other resources to complete similar work
  • Ability to document programs and schematics using CAD or Visio
  • Ability to organize code revisions without dedicated software
  • Ability to integrate multiple pieces of equipment or stations into a system
