Job Title: Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team at Family Farm and Home. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for managing the store in the absence of the Store Manager and providing exceptional customer service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the store in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring that all store operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist the Store Manager in promoting an aggressive sales culture, with a focus on superior customer service.
  • Responsible for maintaining a highly motivated team, assisting the Store Manager in hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and firing of team members.
  • Assist the Store Manager in the execution and performance of all store job responsibilities, through key associates and/or own actions.
  • Complete store operational requirements, scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.
  • Provide feedback to the office, including buyers, district managers, and other company officials.
  • Achieve financial objectives, assisting the Store Manager in the preparation of an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Identify current and future customer requirements, establishing rapport with actual and potential customers.
  • Establish relationships and support local community groups, consistent with company values.
  • Solicit customers to sign up for Family Farm and Home programs, including loyalty programs, extended warranties, financing, and item of the month.
  • Responsible for managing and protecting all inventory and company assets, in accordance with company policy against theft and damage.
  • Verify merchandise is received, stored, and merchandised in all departments, according to established operational and safety procedures.
  • Protect team members and customers, while maintaining the stability and reputation of the store, by complying with legal requirements and providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Assist the Store Manager in determining marketing strategy changes, reviewing operating and financial statements, and departmental sales records.
  • Assist the Store Manager in maintaining consistent operations, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage with limited supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and other associates.
  • Aggressive customer service skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Good management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form, and use it effectively in assessing and coordinating merchandise and operational aspects of store operations.
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures, climb up and down ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
