Acute Care Physician Assistant Fellowship

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Physician Assistant to join our Acute Care Physician Assistant Fellowship program at U of L Physicians. This 12-month training program is designed to prepare Physician Assistants for a career in acute care medicine.

Program Overview

The Acute Care Physician Assistant Fellowship program is a comprehensive training program that provides Physician Assistants with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to succeed in acute care medicine. The program includes seven required core rotations and 12 weeks of elective time, as well as didactics, precepted and autonomous practice, and clinical skills preparation.

Curriculum

The curriculum for the Acute Care Physician Assistant Fellowship program is designed to focus on knowledge advancement, professional development, leadership, interprofessional communication, diversity and inclusion, and self-care practice. The program will cover topics such as:

  • Comprehensive patient assessment and management
  • Pharmacology and therapeutics
  • Cardiovascular and respiratory medicine
  • Neurology and neurosurgery
  • General surgery and critical care
Requirements

To be eligible for the Acute Care Physician Assistant Fellowship program, applicants must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Hold a current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Kentucky
  • Have a strong commitment to patient care and a desire to work in acute care medicine
