Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist

This Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist position is located in the Radiology department at the Providence VA Medical Center. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising a team of radiologic technologists and ensuring the delivery of high-quality imaging services to patients. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of radiologic technology and patient care.
Responsibilities- Evaluate new products and equipment to make recommendations for upgrades or purchases that improve operations.
- Develop and maintain protocol manuals for procedures performed in the section.
- Implement and adhere to all safety practices and policies for the section.
- Perform imaging using DR and CR, including computer manipulation, image acquisition, and releasing images to the PACS storage system.
- Assist radiologists during fluoroscopic examinations and prepare oral contrast materials as needed.
- Supervise technologists performing a wide variety of difficult radiographic exams, including CT, MRI, and special procedures.
- Interview and evaluate candidates for positions, evaluate subordinate performance, and recommend appointments or disciplinary actions.
- Participate in organizational facility initiatives, workgroups, and committees.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
- Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE).
- English Language Proficiency: DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
- 10+ years of experience and prior leadership in MRI.
This position requires the ability to lift, move, or push heavy equipment, and to assist in lifting patients who may be paralyzed, comatose, or otherwise incapacitated. The incumbent must also be able to reach overhead to manipulate an x-ray tube.
