Job Summary

This Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist position is located in the Radiology department at the Providence VA Medical Center. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising a team of radiologic technologists and ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluating new products and equipment to recommend upgrades or purchases that improve operations
  • Developing and maintaining protocol manuals for procedures performed in the section
  • Implementing and adhering to all safety practices and policies for the section
  • Performing imaging using DR and CR, including computer manipulation, image acquisition, and releasing images to the PACS storage system
  • Assisting radiologists during fluoroscopic examinations and preparing oral contrast materials
  • Advising radiologists, participating providers, or referring physicians of examinations requiring their immediate attention
  • Performing other imaging-related duties as assigned, including PICC line insertion, lumbar puncture, and PCN tube changes
  • Preparing the magnet for daily operation and maintaining the cleanliness of the work area
Requirements
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R)
  • Advanced ARRT certification for assignments that include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program
  • English language proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience and prior leadership in MRI
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced radiology department, interacting with patients, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. The position requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The incumbent will be required to lift, move, or push heavy equipment and assist in lifting patients who may be paralyzed, comatose, or otherwise incapacitated.

The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
