About the Role

The Residential Counselor will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of residents at Crotched Mountain School & Village. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to maintain a calm and composed demeanor in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

The Residential Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing individualized plans to support residents' goals and objectives;
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support;
  • Participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to promote a safe living environment;
  • Engaging residents in recreational activities and promoting socialization and community building.
Work Environment

The campus offers a unique blend of outdoor recreation and educational opportunities, allowing residents to engage in various activities and develop new skills.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, and meet one of the following requirements:

  • A High school diploma or equivalent plus an Associate degree or higher with a minimum of 12 credits in Human Services, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field;
  • A parent of a child over 7 years old;
  • Two years of full-time paid or volunteer experience working with children (3000 hours);
  • A combination of college credits in the field and experience working with children that totals two years.
