About the Role

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Service Representative to join our team at Scripps Clinic - Encinitas. As a key member of our Float Pool department, you will be responsible for creating a positive patient experience while providing exceptional service and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with patients and providers to gather accurate registration information, assign medical record numbers, schedule appointments, collect payments, and manage check-in and check-out processes.
  • Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Effectively manage the registration process, including identification verification, demographic and insurance information, and preparation of end-of-day reporting and payment reconciliation.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments, enter insurance information, and initiate referrals/authorizations as needed.
  • Provide proactive customer service, listening to patient concerns, taking ownership of solutions, and escalating issues to leadership as necessary.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, excellent mathematical skills, and ability to handle cash and credit transactions.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills, with a strong focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Display strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in customer service or a healthcare/medical office environment.
  • Prior patient scheduling experience and knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance, and billing guidelines.
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
