Medical Cardiology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse I to join our Medical Cardiology team at Albany Medical Center.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their episode of care with a focus on progress toward discharge. This includes during transitions within the acute care stay.
Key Responsibilities- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
- A graduate of a professional academic nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree conferred.
- A current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
- Obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Prior experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance is preferred.
- Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
- Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques, and ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.

Estimated Salary Range$33.00 - $33.99 per hour.
