Position Overview
The Hamden Library is seeking a dedicated individual with substantial experience in labor relations, specifically in areas concerning compensation, working hours, and employment conditions. If you possess five (5) years of relevant experience in these fields or in payroll and accounting practices, this role may be an excellent fit for you.
About the Role
As a Labor Standards Compliance Investigator, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for ensuring that employers adhere to wage and hour regulations. This position will involve conducting thorough investigations to assess compliance with applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit payroll and timekeeping records to verify adherence to state and federal wage laws.
- Investigate employee complaints and conduct interviews with various stakeholders.
- Gather and analyze statistical data related to wage rates and working hours across different sectors.
- Facilitate fact-finding conferences to address compliance issues.
- Document wage claims and prepare comprehensive reports for hearings or legal proceedings.
- Conduct cost of living assessments as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the department's mission.

Qualifications
