REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Currently, there are no direct reports. The role requires close collaboration with the CMG service assistant and HR personnel.
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Internal: Engages with diocesan staff at various locations including parishes, schools, and charitable organizations.
External: Liaises with insurance brokers, providers, third-party claims administrators, legal counsel, and community members.
SUMMARY OVERVIEW:
The Risk Management Manager is tasked with overseeing and executing all risk management initiatives within the Diocese of Orange. This role involves the administration of insurance programs and risk management strategies. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to staff regarding insurance matters, workers' compensation, and proactive risk management practices. Communication will primarily occur with business managers, pastors, cemetery managers, HR staff, and school administrators, emphasizing excellent service and collaborative relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Insurance Program Management: Direct the procurement of various insurance lines, focusing on cost reduction and risk mitigation. Collaborate with insurance providers to facilitate incident reporting and manage compliance with insurance policies.
2. Incident Reporting: Oversee the acknowledgment and filing of all incident reports related to property, liability, and workers' compensation.
3. Claims Management: Work closely with the insurance carrier to assess and resolve property and casualty claims through investigations and negotiations. Conduct safety inspections and implement risk management policies.
4. Workers' Compensation Oversight: Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely claims resolution and collaborate with HR on employee injury reporting and claims management.
5. Vendor Compliance: Guide vendors on compliance requirements and serve as the liaison for all vendor-related inquiries.
6. Risk Management Committee Coordination: Act as the primary contact for committee members, scheduling meetings and documenting proceedings.
7. Additional Responsibilities: Provide support for various tasks including responding to inquiries about incident reporting, insurance coverage, and safety protocols. Review invoices for accuracy and manage vehicle registrations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years' experience in property and casualty claims adjusting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and be available for emergencies.
DESIRED:
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
- Previous experience in risk management or safety is advantageous.
- A proactive professional with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical Working Conditions: Office environment with regular site visits.
Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computers, telephones, and copiers.
Essential Physical Tasks: Verbal communication, mobility within the office, and occasional lifting of materials up to 30 lbs. Regional travel is required.
