Job Summary

Terracon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Alternate Delivery organization. This role will provide engineering and consulting services for transportation projects and clients across the US.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with experience in transportation projects and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading safety efforts, promoting continuous quality monitoring and improvement, and providing technical direction for production and completion of unique or complex projects.

This is a remote-only position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work from home or another location. The national standard salary range for this position is $98,900-$148,600, and the base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure the team follows safety rules and guidelines.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold team members accountable for quality control standards.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinates engineering work involving conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
  • Senior level engineering professional providing technical direction required for production and completion of unique or complex projects.
  • Responsible for managing the team in conceptualizing the initial design and/or investigative approach for an entire major transportation project or segments of a large transportation project.
  • Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met.
  • Provide review of projects requiring complex and innovative investigation techniques and supervise the analysis and formulation of recommendations in written reports to clients; provides technical review of reports.
  • Coordinates with lead project accountant for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections.
  • Lead technical training and make informed decisions based upon state-of-the-art technology issues.
  • Mentoring and coaching key project team members to execute the projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8-11 years' experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Transportation experience with DOTs is required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
