Position Overview

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation and upkeep of mechanical systems within the facility. Key duties include:

  • Generating steam or overseeing steam supplied by external utilities.
  • Providing chilled water services and ensuring emergency power generation.
  • Managing equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and compressors.
  • Maintaining and operating air handling units and refrigeration systems.

Essential Qualifications

  • Must possess EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Membership in a local union is mandatory.
  • Proficient knowledge of trade practices, tools, and techniques, including the use of welding equipment.
  • Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions, as well as read diagrams and blueprints.
  • Compliance with Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy if driving is part of the role.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 95 pounds.
  • Good balance, coordination, and dexterity for working at heights.
  • Willingness to wear a half-mask respirator to meet OSHA standards.

Work Environment

This position requires standing, lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping, bending, pulling, squatting, and walking as part of the daily responsibilities.
