POSITION TITLE: Community Advocacy Project Coordinator

PROGRAM: Passage Domestic Violence Services

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time (35 hours per week)

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

REPORTING TO: Director of Passage Domestic Violence Services

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Social Work preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of direct service experience considered.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: In-depth clinical understanding of family dynamics, particularly in relation to family violence. Proven experience collaborating with community organizations.

SALARY: $22.15 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Advocacy Project Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Domestic Violence program while embodying the mission and services of Pinnacle Community Services. This position oversees the advocacy services provided through the Domestic Violence program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field with 3+ years of direct service experience may be considered.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work is preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver License and personal vehicle availability during work hours.
  • Extensive knowledge of family violence dynamics and experience in group facilitation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and web-based databases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in educational presentations on domestic violence and related issues to various community organizations.
  • Provide community advocacy and safety planning tailored to the needs of families in the program and the broader community.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise interns in alignment with the Community Advocacy Project philosophy.
  • Oversee the roles of Shelter Advocates, Support Group Facilitators, and Child Enrichment Workers.
  • Conduct client assessments to establish service goals for survivors of family violence.
  • Educate clients on advocacy and navigation skills for community services.
  • Attend court and social services proceedings for client advocacy as necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of community resources and facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Facilitate support and educational groups for adults and children from domestic violence backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Committee to enhance community awareness of agency services.
  • Coordinate with shelter staff to manage hotline calls and client needs during operational hours.
  • Maintain accurate client records and documentation of daily activities.
  • Coordinate field placements with educational institutions as per agreed standards.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
  • Participate in regular supervision with the Program Director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

  • Interns in the program.
  • Non-residential Group Facilitators.
  • Child Enrichment Workers.
  • Shelter Advocates.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily in a shelter/residential setting.
  • Frequent local travel required.
  • Occasional lifting of light weights (15 pounds or less).
  • Moderate stress and fast-paced environment.
