Position Overview:
The ESE/ESOL Coordinator plays a crucial role in executing and ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures, and regulations while addressing various responsibilities necessary for maintaining the school's service programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing student interventions and adjustments to the academic curriculum as required;
- Overseeing the school's ELL and ESOL programs and services;
- Developing relevant goals and objectives while recommending policies;
- Collaborating with staff to assess and enhance special education programs and services;
- Acting as a liaison with district personnel, providing information regarding ELL and ESOL programs;
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
The ESE/ESOL Coordinator collaborates closely with the instructional team to address the needs of the school and maintain compliance by offering expert consultative and collaborative services that support the instructional program. Building strong relationships is essential in this role, as the team works together to identify and address student needs that may hinder their success. The coordinator also provides training, coaching, and guidance to educational staff regarding best practices in assessment, instructional methodologies, and curriculum tailored for special education students with diverse disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain comprehensive educational records for students with disabilities, including IEPs and evaluation reports;
- Ensure all students with disabilities possess current IEPs;
- Oversee LEA special education profile data for compliance reporting;
- Coordinate the delivery of special education and related services as outlined in IEPs;
- Ensure adherence to least restrictive environment (LRE) and free appropriate public education (FAPE) guidelines;
- Facilitate timely completion of initial referrals for special education services;
- Collaborate with regular education staff on Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS);
- Provide regular updates to the school leadership team regarding special education services and compliance;
- Work collaboratively with school personnel on special education service models;
- Maintain accurate inventory of instructional resources and materials;
- Develop and sustain compliant and effective special education programs;
- Offer expert support for instructional and behavioral intervention programs;
- Attend IEP meetings as necessary;
- Stay informed on current issues and regulations related to special education;
- Oversee the extended school year program;
- Provide training on curriculum adaptation for students with disabilities;
- Foster a culture of professionalism among team members;
- Coordinate activities with external agencies serving students with disabilities;
- Maintain accurate records and prepare necessary documentation;
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
