Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Support Assistant to join our team as a Prior Authorization Coordinator. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring seamless patient care by performing a variety of tasks involved in greeting and directing patients, their families, vendors, pharmaceutical representatives, and other business associates.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Submit, verify, and follow up on prior authorization requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist in calling specialty pharmacies to enroll new start patients and schedule medication deliveries.
  • Provide copay assistance information to patients.
  • Evaluate and ensure that medications and required documents have arrived for patients' appointments.
  • Unpack and restock medication deliveries promptly.
  • Communicate essential information to patients and their families regarding services, charges, and routine treatment procedures.
  • Schedule same-day add-on infusions and new start patients efficiently.
  • Check patients in and inform nursing staff of their arrival; check patients out and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Fax incoming documents daily and distribute them accordingly.
  • Answer phone calls and provide accurate information.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety, and other established policies.
  • Ensure adequate and timely patient follow-up regarding appointments and paperwork.
  • Represent the Dent with respect and professionalism when interacting with patients and their families.
  • Independently problem-solve and utilize available resources to obtain patient information when needed.
