Job Summary

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Manager to oversee the delivery of patient care at a licensed general acute care/skilled nursing facility with rehabilitation services. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership and clinical skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geriatric nursing and experience in managing nursing care on assigned units. They will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care using resident outcomes data, as well as providing clinical leadership within the institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs and manages nursing care on assigned units 24 hours/7 days a week;
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care using resident outcomes data;
  • Provides clinical leadership within the institution;
  • Ensures unit compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Represents the Nursing Division in a variety of meetings and committees;
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility in managing resources;
  • Maintains, monitors, and promotes a resident-centered philosophy which supports the autonomy, dignity and rights of residents and others;
  • Ensures staff coverage for 24 hour, 7 days a week operation for both units using One Staff Scheduling Systems.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid, including temporary or interim, California Registered Nurse License issued by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN);
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and/or university in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a closely related field;
  • Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience as a Registered Nurse in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or acute care hospital, within the last five (5) years.

Substitution: Two (2) years of additional experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse in a long-term care facility, licensed home health agency or other hospital setting may be substituted for the educational requirement.
