About the Role

Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. As a key member of our Air & Missile Defense Software Department, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for the Patriot Fire Unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test real-time embedded software, application software, and tools to support new system capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software solutions meet technical and business requirements.
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
  • Work closely with project managers and other professionals within Engineering to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Experience with C, C++, or Java programming languages.
  • Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps and test automation.
