Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Northside Hospital Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling laboratory data collection systems and equipment, ensuring that requests for laboratory tests are properly ordered, cancelled, and charged to all inpatients, outpatients, and institutional accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handles laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure accurate and efficient test ordering and processing.
  • Performs specimen collection procedures for inpatients and outpatients, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Processes and prepares specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Coordinates with healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and efficient test ordering.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports, adhering to regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant clinical training or experience in phlebotomy or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies, with sufficient physical stamina to perform job duties.
  • Color vision acuity and ability to pass a color-acuity screening test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory terminology and computer systems.
  • Public relations skills and service delivery training.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with rotating weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with exposure to blood and other bodily fluids.
