Histocompatibility Laboratory Assistant

Job Summary:
Piedmont is seeking a skilled Histocompatibility Laboratory Assistant to support our Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the laboratory, including specimen receipt, assessment, and pre-analytical processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides support to the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory by performing all technical aspects of specimen receipt, assessment, and pre-analytical processing.
- Performs accurate and timely functions related to the receipt of laboratory specimens, including patient registration, specimen processing, sample quality assessment, troubleshooting, and test ordering based on specific clinical pathways.
- Performs detailed data entry, instrument maintenance, and quality assurance, customer service, and organizational tasks necessary for the efficient function of the laboratory.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED certificate with successful completion of courses in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Working knowledge of clinical laboratory and tests performed.
- Associate of Science degree from an accredited college in Medical Technology, related science, or clinical discipline preferred.
- Medical Laboratory Technician certification preferred.
