Key Responsibilities:

  • Voter Registration: Responsible for registering voters and ensuring the accuracy of the voter registration database. This includes data entry of new voter applications, maintaining existing voter records, and processing changes such as address updates and deceased voters.
  • Election Support: Involves issuing absentee ballots, assisting with candidate filings, training precinct officials, and preparing for both regular and special elections.
  • Administrative Duties: Takes minutes during Board of Elections meetings and exercises independent judgment, initiative, and courtesy while performing duties and interacting with the public.
  • Data Management: Maintains the voter registration database by performing data entry, auditing records, and ensuring compliance with state laws and county policies.
  • Customer Service: Provides assistance to voters and the general public via phone and in-person inquiries regarding registration, election processes, and voting precincts.
  • Candidate Assistance: Aids candidates in completing required filing forms, receives filing fees, and provides necessary campaign reporting materials.
  • Election Preparation: Assists in preparing for elections, including testing voting equipment, conducting voter education, and supervising part-time staff and precinct officials.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a high school diploma supplemented by business courses and substantial administrative experience involving extensive public interaction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Elections Administrator certification from the State Board of Elections is preferred within three years of employment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of electoral laws, procedures, and policies.
  • Proficient in modern office practices and technology, including database management.
  • Ability to work independently under strict deadlines during election periods.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively interact with various stakeholders.

Physical Requirements: Must be capable of performing essential operational tasks, including lifting, standing, and using visual acuity for data analysis and record maintenance.
