About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to lead our Confluence Cloud Engineering team and drive strategy and execution for scaling Confluence's services to support the next generation of large enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a world-class data engineering practice and shape technical strategy and system architecture for Confluence's scalability and security posture.
  • Partner with product, platform engineering, and peers and senior stakeholders across product engineering on multiple programs.
  • Drive technical strategy and execution for efficiently scaling Confluence Cloud to support the next generation of enterprise customers.
  • Foster an engineering culture of high performance and world-class delivery, while supporting your teams with empathy and investing in their career growth.
  • Collaborate with SRE on projects to optimize the interaction between services and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Finance on capacity planning and estimation.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in building and scaling engineering teams with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, and cost.
  • 8+ years of experience leading engineering teams, experience managing managers of managers, and experience running organizations with over 50 engineers efficiently across geographies.
  • Product sense with an understanding of product drivers and of how to align highly technical work with customer and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing influential relationships and trust with senior leaders across different departments.
  • Prior experience partnering with Engineering, Product Management, and Platform teams.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services.

To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

  • Zone A: $239,000 - $318,600
  • Zone B: $215,100 - $286,700
  • Zone C: $198,300 - $264,400

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
