Our mission is to empower and support healthcare professionals who care for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Philanthropy Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in nurturing relationships with contributors and ensuring their alignment with our mission.
Collaborating closely with the Director of Membership Development and other team members, this individual will execute engagement strategies, improve donor satisfaction, and advance fundraising initiatives for our Every Woman, Every Baby (EWEB) charitable giving program.
Key responsibilities include organizing and managing AWHONN's fundraising activities to achieve annual objectives, providing administrative assistance to the Membership and Volunteer Engagement Department, and focusing on communications, customer service, and data management related to donors, members, volunteers, and staff.
Furthermore, the incumbent will maintain donor records and oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events throughout the year.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
FUNDRAISING AND DONOR RELATIONS
- Collaborate with the Director of Membership Development and other staff to implement fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship programs for individual donors at all levels, including direct mail, newsletters, website content development, special events, and personal outreach.
- Develop and execute workplace giving campaigns across various sectors as appropriate.
- Achieve or surpass annual fundraising goals and donor prospect cultivation objectives.
- Act as the primary contact and support for all fundraising and donor engagement activities.
- Work in partnership with marketing and membership teams to roll out fundraising campaigns.
- Prepare correspondence and generate mailings to prospects, donors, and volunteers.
- Coordinate fundraising efforts with other AWHONN departments to engage volunteer leadership, section and chapter members, staff donors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage acknowledgments and recognition processes, including donor appreciation lists, promotional materials, and content for AWHONN's website and social media platforms.
- Assist with grant reconciliation, tracking, and disbursement for charitable funds.
- Research potential fundraising targets by reviewing literature and mailings from government funding sources, private foundations, and other potential contributors.
- Create progress reports and dashboards to communicate achievements as necessary.
- Plan, support, and implement fundraising events throughout the year, including those during the annual AWHONN Convention.
- Enhance donor visibility and member engagement on The Hub, AWHONN's online member community.
- Collect impactful stories and data that showcase the success and needs of the EWEB program.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling donor communication materials, including newsletters, social media content, and other items as needed.
- Maintain the online donation processing system and donor history in the AMS.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records in the fundraising database.
- Generate donation statistics, reports, acknowledgment lists, and targeted donor mailing lists.
- Track and analyze donor engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and inform future initiatives.
- Process pledges and donations, providing high-quality customer service support to donors.
- Facilitate updates to development information on the AWHONN website.
- Provide additional database or customer service support to the membership team as needed.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
- Provide administrative support to the Development Committee as the committee's main staff contact, including assisting with meeting schedules, agendas, and materials.
- Offer administrative support, as needed, to the Director of Membership Development in collaboration with the Membership Committee.
- Maintain and manage the office inventory of EWEB collateral and membership marketing materials.
- Assist with and/or staff onsite development and membership activities and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
This role will serve as a leader across the organization to assist staff in identifying ways to enhance and strengthen engagement in AWHONN charitable giving to meet and exceed strategic goals.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, fundraising/development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous or ongoing remote work experience.
- Experience with database fundraising software (Nimble or Salesforce preferred).
- Knowledge of best practices in donor engagement and fundraising.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, in a team environment, and with individuals from a geographically dispersed membership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to provide customer service to highly engaged VIPs.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with key stakeholders organization-wide.
- Strong teamwork, collaboration, and multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet time-sensitive goals.
- Ability to work with volunteer leaders and committees, including recruitment and training.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks and administer approved budgets.
- Excellent grasp of technology, including Microsoft Office software; the ability to learn new software and familiarity with various social networking platforms.
- Passion for the mission of the Every Woman, Every Baby program and a commitment to maternal and child health.
