Health Information Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Specialist to join our team at the South Central Regional Medical Center. As a key member of our Health Information team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely release of patient information to authorized parties.
Job DescriptionThe Health Information Specialist will be responsible for:
- Receiving and processing requests for patient information, ensuring that all necessary documentation and authorizations are in place;
- Retrieving and preparing patient records for release, including printing and faxing documents as needed;
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient information and requests;
- Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring that all requests are handled in a timely and professional manner;
- Collaborating with other members of the Health Information team to ensure seamless workflow and efficient processing of requests;
- Staying current with changes in laws and regulations governing the release of patient information, including HIPAA and state-specific requirements;
- Participating in ongoing education and training to ensure expertise in release of information procedures and best practices.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent;
- 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a release of information role;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion;
- Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic health records and other software applications.

- A salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience;
