Job Summary:
The Clinical Pathology Specialist will serve as the primary support contact for laboratory applications within the electronic health record. This individual will act as a subject matter resource for EHR application integration with other clinical applications and information systems, as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to end-users of laboratory applications.
- Identify and resolve issues that arise in the application area, as well as issues that impact other application teams.
- Collaborate with Epic (Wisconsin) staff to guide workflow design, build, and test the system, and analyze technical issues associated with Epic (Wisconsin) software.
- Implement requested changes to the system and serve as a liaison between end-users' workflow needs and Epic (Wisconsin) staff.
- Maintain regular communication with Epic (Wisconsin) representatives and organization stakeholders to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs.
- Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions.
- Participate in training and work with end-users to troubleshoot problems and questions.
- Review the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
- Participate in weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
- Demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing end-user business needs.
- Exhibit open-mindedness and ability to examine ideas and concepts from multiple angles.
- Take ownership of work activities and ensure they are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely.
- Recognize assignments or tasks that need to be completed and seek out additional assignments or tasks to help others.
- Communicate information clearly and concisely with project leadership and subject matter experts.
- Learn new software and systems.
- Listen attentively to ensure accurate message reception, hold responses until the person has finished making their point, and repeat information to ensure accuracy.
- Seek, logically examine, and interpret information from different sources to determine a problem's cause and develop a course of action to resolve the problem and prevent its recurrence.
- Persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressures.
- Medical Laboratory Technician certification is required.
- Two years of hospital laboratory experience are required.
- Attain assigned EPIC (Wisconsin) Certification(s) within 90 days of employment.
