At Heartland Human Care Services, we are seeking a dedicated Housing Resource Specialist to join our team in providing comprehensive support to individuals in need of stable housing. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community.

About the Job

We are looking for a motivated professional with excellent communication skills and experience in advocacy services, case management, or similar work in a direct service setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong network and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including social service agencies, government organizations, and community groups.

The salary for this position is estimated at $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) match, paid maternity and paternity leave, commuter benefits, student loan assistance, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate and secure private market housing units for homeless or at-risk individuals
  • Interview clients to determine referral appropriateness and provide budgeting skills, employment interviewing, and job search training as needed
  • Maintain professional relationships with landlords, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless referrals and follow-up services
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of local resources, best practices, and industry trends to enhance service delivery and agency reputation
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify gaps in supportive services and develop strategies to address them
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a social service field and three years of experience in advocacy services, case management, or similar work in a direct service setting, or Master's degree in a related field and one year of experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Work Environment

This role is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement, with regular in-person meetings and flexibility to work from home when appropriate. Program sites are located throughout the Chicago area, including the North and South sides of Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
