A Safe Haven Foundation seeks a highly skilled Housing Navigator to join our team. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting individuals and families in achieving stable housing.

Job Overview

This position plays a critical role in connecting individuals with permanent supportive housing or subsidized housing options. As a Housing Navigator, you will work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, and provide them with personalized support throughout the housing placement process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients referred through the Expedited Housing Initiative and assess their eligibility for various housing programs.
  • Assist clients in understanding leasing terminology and disclosing tenancy rights and responsibilities.
  • Support clients in applying or updating applications for subsidized housing and facilitate the leasing process from start to finish.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, including those who may be disengaged or resistant to support.
  • Utilize assertive engagement techniques to maintain regular contact with clients and provide them with ongoing support.
  • Connect clients with resources such as food assistance, medication delivery services, and access to cell phones.
  • Help clients obtain necessary documents required for the intake process.
  • Employ motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies to encourage movement towards housing placement.
  • Participate in required meetings, including Accelerated Moving Events, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Follow up with former participants and resolve any outstanding placement issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in case management, social services, or a housing-related field.
  • Valid driver's license and proficiency in using spreadsheet software (Excel), word processing software (Word), electronic mail software (Outlook), and keyboarding skills.

Estimated Salary

$55,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
