Responsibilities:
About the Role:
The Senior Software Engineer (SDE) III will play a vital role in all facets of development as a member of the Enterprise reusable services team.
Team members will possess areas of expertise and some degree of specialization but must be versatile in learning tools and languages that enable participation in all aspects of product development.
Being adaptable and knowledgeable across multiple domains allows team members to collaborate effectively and fill gaps to meet commitments.Develop, test, and maintain software solutions utilizing a variety of programming languages and technologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into software specifications.
The SDE III engages beyond the immediate team to achieve objectives, influencing and collaborating with other teams within GM Financial and working directly with external organizations.
The SDE III mentors and guides the team to ensure full participation and high-quality reviews while maintaining a production-first mindset focused on scalability, uptime, and the team's ability to swiftly address and resolve production issues.
Qualifications:
What makes you an ideal candidate?
Strong experience in software development using Java/J2EE and related technologies.
In-depth understanding of software design patterns and microservices architecture.
Extensive experience in constructing microservices utilizing event-driven architecture and familiarity with event streaming tools such as Azure Event Hub, Kafka, etc.
Proficiency in relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, CosmosDB.
Experience in creating micro-frontends using ReactJs or Angular.
Cross-training or familiarity with the Microsoft .Net technology stack for developing POCs and troubleshooting issues.
Significant experience in building RESTful services using Open API Specification.
Substantial experience with cloud-related concepts and technologies, preferably Azure.
Expertise in designing, building, and optimizing automated pipelines with integrated testing and security controls.
Experience in writing automated test cases using Karate is preferred.
Experience in documenting solutions and generating architectural artifacts (Logical, Physical) using MS Visio or Lucid chart.
Strong presentation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and business audiences.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
Education/Experience
4+ years of experience in software development using Java and/or .Net as a programming language.
3-5 years of Cloud development and support experience such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) required.
