The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to support our facilities team in Bar Harbor, Maine. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of our facility's complex HVAC systems, including commercial/industrial grade heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
Key Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, install, repair, replace, troubleshoot, test, and respond to routine and emergency service calls related to HVAC systems and its components.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services on HVAC systems according to established schedules and provide input for upgrades or modifications.
- Assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of new and modification of existing HVAC systems and its components.
- Assist with maintenance and operation of Building Automation Systems, Fire Protection Systems, Security Systems, Utility Plant Systems, Lighting, Building Maintenance, and other tasks as they apply to the department's demands.
- Provide training and mentoring to others in the operation and repair of HVAC systems and its components.
- Utilize CMMS to track and preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and create work orders.
- Provide detailed written and oral reports/presentations on equipment utilization, round sheets, records, and daily pass-down logs for internal use along with state and federal agencies.
- Develop new and improve existing SOPs to effectively document processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems that incorporate pneumatic and digital control systems, and computer-based Building Automation Systems (BAS). Ability to apply these principles to Process Equipment (autoclaves, tunnel washers, bottle washers, and rack washers).
- Basic understanding of Building Automation Systems, Fire Protection Systems, Security Systems, Utility Plant Systems, Lighting, and Building Maintenance.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences of operations, control drawings, and control loops.
- Ability to diagnose and repair HVAC components, programmable Building Automation Controls, and monitoring systems.
- Ability to prepare engineering documents, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability and willingness to rapidly learn new technical skills and apply them in the maintenance and operation of the facility.
- Analytical ability for problem-solving and to communicate effectively with others in writing and verbally.
- Ability to enter manholes, vaults, and other classified and unclassified confined spaces. A respirator and/or specialized personal protective equipment may be required to access certain confined spaces. Certification in confined space entry or ability to qualify within 6 months.
Trade licenses & certifications will be held in high regard. Certification in confined space entry or ability to qualify within 6 months. Education Required: Vocational/Technical Degree. Education Preferred: Associate's Degree. Experience Required: 3 years. Experience Preferred: 6 years.
Pay Range$38.80 per hour, based on experience.
