Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Social Studies Teacher to join our team at St. Bernard High School for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will teach World & US History, Government, and Economics, and must demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the content areas and be able to engage students using a wide variety of teaching strategies.
The Exciting Next Chapter for St. Bernard High SchoolOver the next several years, St. Bernard High School is embarking on a strategic plan to reimagine what it means to be an effective high school, given the dynamic higher education and economic factors that young people face today. This plan calls for a best-in-sector approach to instruction, curriculum, co-curricular programs, and a rich, robust student life that promises to position St. Bernard High School as one of the pre-eminent schools of choice in the Los Angeles area.
Requirements / Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree required
- Teaching credential single subject Social Studies (preferred, but not required)
- Effective interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and complete them by due dates
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form
- Must demonstrate sensitivity towards students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with teenagers and their parents
- Ability to maintain files accurately, on paper and in software programs (aeries, canvas, Google Classroom)
