INVESTMENT RISK ANALYSIS SPECIALIST II

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc.

is looking for an Investment Risk Analysis Specialist II to join our Market Risk Management team. This role is based in Pittsburgh, PA, and involves conducting sophisticated quantitative and financial assessments in the domains of balance sheet oversight, capital markets, counterparty risk, liquidity, and investment strategies, employing mathematical and statistical methodologies, tools, models, and programming languages.

The successful candidate will assist senior leadership in the formulation, execution, and dissemination of intricate risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.

This position allows for remote work flexibility, permitting telecommuting for up to two days each week, with a minimum of three days required in the office.


Key Responsibilities:
(i) Develop and manage financial models/tools pertinent to market risk, liquidity risk, investment risk, capital sufficiency, regulatory compliance, and counterparty exposure; (ii) Sustain risk management models/tools, including data source validation, documentation, and output reviews; (iii) Evaluate and clearly convey the outcomes of various processes such as market risk models/tools or reporting systems to facilitate internal risk monitoring and compliance with regulatory standards; (iv) Analyze and comprehend shifts in risk parameters and their implications on overall risk; (v) Initiate, oversee, and/or implement analytical projects, from conceptual design and data integrity assessment to documentation and execution; (vi) Create processes and sophisticated quantitative analytical tools to assess, monitor, and report on market, liquidity, and investment risk exposures; (vii) Establish reporting frameworks, including databases, for financial products, leveraging computational methodologies, and assist other business units in optimizing system capabilities to meet their needs; (viii) Collaborate with model developers to design and conduct user acceptance testing for new market risk models/tools; (ix) Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders to support independent reviews and implementation processes; (x) Provide guidance and address inquiries from business unit partners and other stakeholders regarding market, liquidity, and investment risk issues; and (xi) Offer recommendations to ensure that market, liquidity, and investment risks are accurately measured, monitored, and reported.


A Master's degree in Computational Finance, Quantitative Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics, along with one year of relevant financial industry experience in market risk management, is required.

Candidates must possess knowledge (gained through university coursework, seminars, workshops, or practical experience) in the following areas: (i) the risk management principle of Value at Risk; (ii) market dynamics and valuation of financial instruments, including fixed income securities and derivatives; (iii) statistical techniques for financial data analysis, including regression and time series analysis using statistical programming languages; (iv) probabilistic methods for finance, including financial models based on stochastic calculus; (v) numerical techniques for finance, such as Monte Carlo simulations and optimization methods, as well as finite difference methods for partial differential equations; and (vi) financial computing and analysis of financial data using programming languages such as R, Python, and Matlab.

40 hours/week, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
