About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Component Engineer to join our Kuiper team at Amazon. As a key member of our Component Engineering team, you will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of our component engineering methods, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams as a subject matter expert.
  • Create, review, and improve component engineering methods, processes, and procedures.
  • Review electrical component requests to ensure they meet requirements and own electrical component lifecycle management.
  • Conduct and review component research on equivalent components to expand our approved vendor list (AVL).
  • Support release processes to ensure end-to-end bill of materials (BOM) quality from CAD to manufacturing.
  • Perform and review BOM scrubs.
  • Manage component failure analysis and corrective actions with suppliers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience working as a component engineer in space, aerospace, or other high-tech industries.
  • Experience working for or closely with an IC manufacturer, understanding fab processes, assembly processes, design processes, materials, and associated QA and REL issues common to Silicon ICs.
  • Experience in electrical component selection, derating, contract manufacturers (PCBA), creating qualification plans, and obsolescence analyses.
  • Experience in component reliability, failure analysis, or destructive physical analysis.
  • Experience collaborating with ECAD/physical board designers.
  • Experience with PLM tools, MS Office, and other desktop tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 20+ years of experience working as a component engineer in space, aerospace, or other high-tech industries.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and component data sheets.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and assembly lines (PCB Assembly).
  • In-depth experience with product development processes.
  • Direct product development, release, and support experience.
  • Program management strengths, including the ability to direct workstreams across QA, reliability, engineering stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to operate with minimal direction and across multiple teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
