Position Overview:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing event preparation and operational activities within the venue.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $14.00-$16.00.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all services and activities related to the operation of the venue.
  • Conduct interviews, select, train, mentor, evaluate, and discipline part-time staff.
  • Facilitate training for all employees and temporary personnel.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to employees to address performance issues; collaborate with Human Resources on disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Assist in planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing operational work plans for the facility.
  • Analyze event documentation to predict staffing and equipment requirements for all events.
  • Coordinate venue arrangements with concessionaires and audiovisual teams.
  • Supervise and support changeover and housekeeping teams as needed.
  • Efficiently schedule changeover and housekeeping crews for large groups, making necessary adjustments and notifications.
  • Maintain departmental equipment and report repair needs to the Director of Operations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients to foster a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an operations role within an arena, convention center, or similar venue, with expertise in setup, housekeeping, and event coordination.
  • An advanced degree in Facility Management or a related field may substitute for experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency in a Windows environment, including typing, data entry, and email.
  • Preferred advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage operations in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including varied schedules of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands:

This position may require occasional lifting and moving of facility equipment and tools. The employee will frequently navigate various areas of the facility before, during, and after events to engage with clients and supervise staff. Duties may involve bending, stooping, or crouching to inspect equipment and infrastructure. The role may also necessitate operating forklifts and high lifts for maintenance tasks. Frequent communication via telephone, email, and in-person interactions is essential. The employee may lift up to 30 lbs regularly, with occasional lifts up to 75 lbs and pushing/pulling weights of 150 lbs as required.

Work Environment:

Most duties are performed indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks depending on weather conditions. The noise level varies from minimal to moderate on non-event days and can become moderate to loud during events. The work environment is typically cool when the ice rink is in use. Employees may encounter large crowds, tight spaces, and elevated areas, with consistent exposure to loud environments and freight elevators.
