Patient Access Representative I

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative I to join our team at UTHealth Houston. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring medical necessity compliance, verifying eligibility, and posting payments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information from patients or guarantors
- Enter information into computer systems with high accuracy
- Schedule patient appointments and enter required information in a timely manner
- Explain required forms to patients or guarantors and obtain necessary signatures
- Ensure medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data and communicating with patients or guarantors
- Protect the financial integrity of the facility by collecting patient liability and establishing payment arrangements
- Complete complex financial counseling, including reviewing and submitting charity applications
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and ensure all notifications and authorizations are completed within required timeframes
- Post payments in computer systems and generate patient receipts
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a hospital or medical business office setting
- Ability to multitask and proficient typing/keyboarding skills
