Job Summary

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for resolving patient accounts in a timely manner. This role requires a solid understanding of the revenue cycle, from patient access to patient financial services. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of commercial, managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid insurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and resolve patient accounts using company patient accounting applications and internet resources.
  • Communicate with third-party payors and patients via phone, email, or online to resolve issues and bring in revenue.
  • Update plan IDs, adjust patient or payor demographic/insurance information, and notate account details.
  • Identify payor issues and trends, and solve re-coup issues.
  • Maintain desk inventory and achieve productivity and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-4 years of medical claims and/or hospital collections experience.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to learn hospital systems quickly and fluently.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.

Work Environment

The Patient Account Representative will work in a call center environment with multiple workstations in close proximity. The ideal candidate will be able to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
