Position Overview:
The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to join our Meds2Beds Pharmacy. In this role, you will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring safe, effective, and timely medication therapy for our patients. You will engage in various departmental assignments, supporting both centralized and decentralized medication-use systems while delivering optimal pharmaceutical care to individuals with diverse health conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with JCAHO, ASHP standards, and federal/state regulations.
- Accurately interpret and dispense medication orders, prioritizing patient safety and therapeutic efficacy.
- Conduct therapeutic monitoring of drug therapies, adjusting dosages based on individual patient needs.
- Identify and resolve drug-related issues, recommending appropriate therapeutic alternatives.
- Collaborate with the Dr. Cart Team during critical care situations.
- Oversee the preparation and labeling of medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, ensuring high-quality pharmaceutical care.
- Participate in the training and mentorship of new staff members.
- Contribute to the preparation of educational materials for publication.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Doctor of Pharmacy or an advanced degree is highly preferred.
- Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Illinois.
- Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees such as a Masters of Science or MBA are highly preferred.
- Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-2 residency is advantageous.
- Experience in clinical pharmacy within an ICU setting is preferred.
- Extensive clinical experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.
