Job Summary

The Maintenance Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the overall maintenance and upkeep of the hotel property, focusing on delivering exceptional guest experiences. This position requires a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and personability when interacting with guests.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preventative Maintenance: Complete the Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program on a timely basis, reviewing the PM checklist for each hotel room and performing tasks to return the room to like-new status.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Ensure Preventative Maintenance repairs are done on lighting, electrical circuits and wiring, plumbing, HVAC, guest room walls, appliances, doors and locks, furniture, carpet stains, and floor coverings.
  • Safe Work Practices: Practice safe work habits, including proper lifting, use of ladders, and safe chemical handling.
  • Guest Concerns: Respond to guest concerns if requested by guest services or directly by the guest.
  • Housekeeping: Clear trash and empty trash containers daily, sweep and clean sidewalks and internal and external stairs as needed, and clear debris from parking lot, landscaping, and dumpster area daily.
  • Exterior Maintenance: Ensure that exterior building and grounds are clean by use of a pressure washer and blower.
  • Painting and Finishing: Paint walls, ceilings, doors, and window trim as needed.
  • Workshop and Storeroom Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized maintenance workshop and storeroom.
  • Daily Checklists: Complete duties and confirm on daily checklist as assigned.
  • Additional Duties: Perform various other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Customer Service Skills: Must have excellent customer service skills with guests and co-workers.
  • Driving Requirements: Hotel must determine prior to job offer if the individual hired will drive for company. If so, employee must have a reliable insured vehicle and a satisfactory driving record.

Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding job that includes both indoor and outdoor responsibilities, estimated at 80% indoor and 20% outdoor. Must be able to withstand frequent extreme changes in temperature.
  • Walking and Lifting: Ability to walk 3 flights of stairs in a row, frequent lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing loads up to 50 lbs.
