Our client, a prominent organization in the insurance sector, is seeking a Regulatory Financial Accountant. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Role Responsibilities:
The Regulatory Financial Accountant will manage the Accounts Payable process, which includes the receipt, approval, and entry of invoices into the AP system.

Responsibilities include conducting payment runs for checks and electronic funds transfers, distributing and mailing checks, and reporting issued and voided items to the bank for positive pay validation.

Handle 1099-MISC, 1099-R, and 1099-NEC reporting and mailing to the IRS, payees, and state entities.
The accountant will prepare and review State Premium tax returns, quarterly estimated payments, and other state regulatory submissions.
Manage Federal and State Income Tax Withholding payments and returns.
Oversee Unclaimed Property Inventory, perform necessary due diligence, and complete annual filings with state authorities.
The Regulatory Financial Accountant will record statutory entries and accruals for quarterly and annual closings as needed.
Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and analyze variances for resolution.
Address inquiries from both internal and external auditors.
Assist in the preparation of GAAP and STAT audits.
Support the creation of State Pages and Schedule Ts.

The accountant will contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements (Blue Books), including schedules and exhibits in line with statutory accounting principles (SAP).

Propose enhancements to internal processes and efficiencies.
Complete other departmental and/or company-related tasks as required.

Candidate Profile:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
A minimum of seven years of experience in accounting or a related field.
Previous experience in life insurance companies is essential.
Strong organizational skills and proficiency in managing workpapers, financial statements, and schedules.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
