We are in search of a highly skilled and driven individual to join our Accounting team as a Lead Financial Accountant. This role is essential in supporting our financial operations and contributing to our ongoing success. The position is based at our headquarters in north Dallas.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to accurately record significant financial transactions on a daily basis.
- Assist in the timely and precise completion of the month-end closing process.
- Provide backup for the Staff Accountant's critical tasks during their absence.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations and reviews of balance sheet accounts.
- Work with the Controller and Accounting Manager to document purchases and sales related to the investment portfolio.
- Manage Fixed Assets, including the addition of new assets, monthly depreciation, and annual disposals.
- Handle Prepaids by adding and reconciling them monthly.
- Prepare specialized reports for monthly Board of Directors meetings.
- Engage closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to oversee the external financial statement audit and regulatory examinations.
- Assist in the preparation of various regulatory reports, including the Quarterly Call Report and semi-annual Federal Reserve reports.
- Perform other related duties as required or as circumstances dictate.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in an accounting environment.
- Preferred 3-5 years of accounting experience within the banking sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of banking accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
- Proficient in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships across all organizational levels.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-driven with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with Jack Henry Silverlake general ledger software, Avid Exchange (Bank-Tel), and A3 reporting package is advantageous.
