Position Overview: This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient functioning of a designated section, department, or shift within the warehouse or distribution center. The supervisor is tasked with guaranteeing that the area is adequately staffed, equipped with the necessary training, tools, and resources, while upholding productivity standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance to meet customer expectations for timely and accurate deliveries.

Key Responsibilities:

The individual in this position will be expected to:

  • Lead and inspire team members.
  • Effectively communicate organizational updates to staff.
  • Address and resolve team member inquiries and concerns.
  • Enhance communication among warehouse leadership and team members.
  • Comprehend departmental objectives and standards, implementing procedures to achieve these goals while fostering team engagement and positive outcomes.
  • Optimize departmental and warehouse processes to minimize costs, enhance customer value, and improve team morale.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of department personnel.
  • Develop and manage work schedules and assignments.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Provide necessary training to cultivate a knowledgeable workforce.
  • Offer coaching and corrective feedback to team members.
  • Enforce all operational policies and procedures.
  • Actively promote safety within the workplace.
  • Assist in supervisory duties during absences.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety regulations.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as needed.
  • Become certified to operate required equipment within the first month of employment.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate the dynamic needs of the distribution center.
  • Adapt to varying temperature conditions, including extreme cold.
  • Perform physical tasks as required.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a distribution warehouse, ideally within the grocery sector.
  • Proven experience in leading large teams, including hiring, training, and resolving personnel issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A willingness to engage with team members and address their needs.
  • The ability to analyze problems, gather data, and draw informed conclusions.
  • Successful completion of background checks and verification processes.

Work Environment:

  • This position involves working primarily indoors within a distribution center.
  • Exposure to varying temperature extremes and potential environmental hazards is expected.
  • Closed-toe footwear is mandatory at all times.
  • This role includes official supervisory responsibilities.
