Key Responsibilities
Join a unique government organization that plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our national airspace system. Your role extends beyond piloting aircraft; it encompasses ensuring the integrity of aviation operations across various missions. Responsibilities include conducting routine inspections of navigational aids, commissioning new equipment at airports nationwide, and supporting military operations in diverse weather conditions.
As part of our commitment to aviation safety, we train over 700 FAA pilots and inspectors each year, reinforcing the FAA's oversight of the aviation sector. Engage in research, development, testing, and evaluation missions utilizing advanced avionics technology and flight testing new procedures to guarantee public safety. Additionally, participate in transportation and emergency response missions to assist government agencies and the public during critical times.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Drug Testing is mandatory.
- Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
- A one-year probationary period may be necessary.

Eligible candidates will be assessed based on their application responses and Supplemental Qualifications Statement.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or military ratings, meet applicable flight hour requirements, and demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.
Certificates and Ratings: All applicants must hold either a valid Commercial pilot certificate with airplane, multi-engine land AND instrument ratings OR an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine land rating. Selected candidates without an ATP certificate will be required to complete the ATP written exam within 60 days of appointment. Additionally, all applicants must possess either a valid first or second-class medical certificate.
Flight Time Requirements:
- PILOT-IN-COMMAND TIME - 250 Hours
- NIGHT FLYING TIME - 75 Hours
- FLYING TIME, LAST 12 MONTHS - 100 Hours
- MULTIENGINE AIRPLANE TIME - 500 Hours
- INSTRUMENT TIME - 75 Hours
To verify flight hours, applicants MUST provide the necessary FAA forms.
Selective Placement Factor: To qualify, applicants must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) and either a valid First or Second Class Medical Certificate.
