Program Details:

This role is situated within a dedicated program aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ youth, offering a safe space where they can access essential services and resources. The program is designed to facilitate a smooth transition from homelessness to stable housing, providing a range of services including meals, clothing, and educational support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of residents by adhering to established care protocols and responding effectively to crises.
  • Implement trauma-informed care practices and house rules that promote a supportive living environment.
  • Act as a welcoming presence for residents, providing guidance and information as needed.
  • Monitor access to residential areas, ensuring appropriate entry and exit for all individuals.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation of tense situations among residents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the facility, encouraging residents to uphold similar standards in their personal spaces.
  • Coordinate and facilitate evening and weekend activities that foster community engagement among residents.
  • Assess and respond to residents exhibiting severe mental health symptoms, collaborating with emergency response teams when necessary.
  • Document daily activities and any irregularities, ensuring accurate reporting of incidents.
  • Follow emergency protocols and communicate effectively with staff regarding urgent issues.
  • Support case management efforts by liaising with service providers on behalf of residents requiring additional assistance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and an understanding of the unique challenges they face.
  • A commitment to the mission of supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and promoting their well-being.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field, particularly with youth facing housing instability or mental health challenges.
  • Familiarity with harm-reduction and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on organizational abilities.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus, particularly in English and Spanish.
