We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technical Operations to join our team at Takeda Pharmaceutical. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for directing technical teams to ensure company, site, and departmental goals are met within budgetary and schedule guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general direction to technical staff based on technical expertise.
- Use understanding of automation, MES, and other technical disciplines to manage an operational support function in compliance with all safety and quality regulations and procedures.
- Develop and implement new processes for supporting site manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate, plan, and schedule tasks and activities for supporting site production activities.
- Define scope of work for project teams and manage, hire, develop, and recognize technical staff.
- Apply specialized knowledge in a creative way to a broad range of difficult problems.
- Analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
- Approve and submit proposals to senior management.
- Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for staff in accomplishing and documenting work.
- Approve protocols and support documentation to secure project release.
- Develop staff members to assume technical approver roles.
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or other related technical field.
- 8+ years of related experience with 3+ in a management role.
- Well-versed in engineering disciplines, including automation, enterprise-wide software, MES, fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, statics, and dynamics.
- Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices, and process validation.
- Maintain industry contacts and be involved in industry interest groups.
- Fluent with MS Office, MS Project, and MS Visio software.
- Display a strong understanding of automation, information technology, and computer system administration good practices, industry standards, and regulations.
- Oversee the development of systems to ensure they meet safety, industry regulations, and user requirements.
- Oversee, motivate, and direct technical personnel.
- Develop KPIs for responsibilities that help with continuous improvement and performance of the area.
- Exhibit creativity and new ideas in completing divisional and department responsibilities.
- Analyze and solve complex problems through creative thought and experience.
- Manage multiple teams simultaneously.
- Ability to design outside of immediate scope of responsibility.
- May lift up to 50 pounds.
- May work in a cold, wet environment.
- May work in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn.
- May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers that may require respiratory protection.
- Can work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a workweek as required.
- May work in a confined area as defined by the Environmental, Health, and Safety office.
- Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body.
- Need to remove all makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers, and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
