Core Responsibilities

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at MotherDuck, you'll be responsible for making our users successful. This involves:

  • Deeply understanding customer needs
  • Collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve the product
  • Proposing creative, bespoke solutions
  • Working with customers on implementation
  • Synthesizing learnings

You'll be a seasoned engineer at heart, able to execute on engineering initiatives independently. You'll also be an exceptional communicator and problem solver.

Requirements

We're looking for someone with:

  • Solid understanding and direct experience working with analytics databases, BI tools, and data processing tools
  • Expert knowledge of SQL
  • Expert understanding of various data management architectures, such as OLAP, OLTP, data lake, and HTAP
  • Experience working with connectors and drivers for databases, such as JDBC, ODBC, and SQLAlchemy
  • Experience working in a highly technical outbound engineering role
  • Experience building technical customer solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Confidence in working with customers to architect and troubleshoot solutions
  • Comfortable with a high level of ambiguity and able to execute independently

We're looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related is also required.
