Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Production Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food to our residents in a safe and sanitary manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food for regular and modified diets, following established recipes and food service procedures.
  • Operate and maintain food service equipment, including ovens, stoves, and dishwashers, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervise and train subordinate cooks in food preparation, meal assembly, and service procedures.
  • Ensure that all food service areas are clean and sanitized, and that food is stored and handled properly.
  • Participate in the distribution of food to designated areas, and serve food to residents as needed.
  • Complete required records and reports, including equipment work orders and documentation of subordinate cooks' performance.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods, food storage standards, and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to cook and bake, and to operate and sanitize food service equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow recipes, and to prepare large quantities of food.
  • Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds, and to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions, and to smell, taste, and see.
  • Ability to work harmoniously and productively with co-workers and residents.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
