Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for an Improvement Project Engineer in the Greater Chicago area. This role is essential for enhancing Capital Program and Operations by leveraging technical expertise and organizational capabilities to propel the plant-level continuous improvement initiative. The goal is to maximize asset value while consistently enhancing process safety and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge in process technology and continuous improvement methodologies, establishing trust with the operations team.
  • Facilitates knowledge sharing with technology specialists to identify and explore potential enhancement opportunities.
  • Collaborates with experts to create and execute a Plant Specific Technology Plan (PSTP) aimed at achieving positive year-over-year returns on capital and non-capital improvements, while fulfilling plant-level Environment Health & Safety objectives.
  • Advocates for process safety initiatives and serves as a resource for addressing relevant safety concerns. Works alongside plant operations and maintenance teams to identify and monitor performance metrics for recognizing technology gaps and improvement prospects.
  • Participates in the facility's root cause analysis by acting as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to process technology. Drives and supports continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the PSTP and contributes to the facility's capital planning.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects within the facility and may take on specific project management roles, such as project manager or manufacturing representative.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, project management, or related fields.
  • Ability to work safely and comfortably at elevated heights, with familiarity or willingness to train in the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment for safe operations.
