About the Role

Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of Assistant Dean of Students. This role will play a pivotal part in supporting students in a nurturing, holistic, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deputize for the Dean of Students when required or assigned.
  • Perform administrative supervision of professional, technical, clerical, and student support personnel assigned by the Dean of Students.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes, including retention, completion, and time to degree.
  • Provide vision and leadership to programs and initiatives supporting underrepresented students.
  • Engage in planning, program development, and training to address the needs of the College's diverse student body.
  • Represent the Dean of Students in meetings with faculty, students, governmental representatives, and members of the public.
  • Manage grant funding for initiatives related to the student experience.
  • Assist in the management of assessment and effectiveness initiatives across the Department of Student Affairs.
  • Work with campus stakeholders to enhance communications to students regarding holistic support services and engagement opportunities.
  • Serve as an investigator, hearing officer, or in related capacity for conduct matters per the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students to publish the annual Student Handbook.
  • Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure information regarding student support services is current on the College's website.
  • Maintain an events calendar for initiatives across the Department of Student Affairs and relevant offices across campus.
  • Participate in the planning and day-of coordination for the annual commencement ceremony.
  • Serve on committees as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field, with seven (7) years' experience in the field.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage administrative tasks.
  • Excellent judgement and respect for confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving/conflict resolution, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to support individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple situations and projects.
