Substance Abuse Recovery Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 24-hour supervision and support to clients to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
- Monitor clients' daily activities, including adherence to treatment schedules, and report any concerns to the clinical team
- Conduct routine checks to ensure the safety and security of clients and the residential facility
- Support clients in completing activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping
- Help clients develop independent living skills that promote recovery, including time management, budgeting, and social skills
- Respond to crises and emergency situations in a calm, professional manner using established intervention protocols
- Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors, including aggression, anxiety, or agitation
- Communicate with the clinical team to coordinate appropriate responses during crisis situations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client activities, incidents, and behavioral changes
- Complete required reports, such as daily logs, incident reports, and shift summaries, in accordance with program standards
- Assist in maintaining client records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Support clients' engagement in recreational or social activities that promote physical and mental wellness
- Help organize and supervise structured program tasks and recreational outings
- Under the supervision of licensed staff, assist in observing medication administration procedures to ensure clients take prescribed medications correctly
- Monitor clients for any adverse reactions to medications and report concerns to medical staff
- Communicate effectively with other team members, including counselors, social workers, nurses, and medical professionals
- Participate in team meetings, treatment reviews, and staff training sessions
- Share relevant observations and client insights with the clinical team to aid in treatment planning
- Foster a supportive and recovery-focused atmosphere by encouraging positive behaviors and interactions among clients
- Set appropriate boundaries and uphold program rules to maintain structure within the residential setting
- Address conflicts or behavioral issues promptly, using therapeutic techniques to resolve them
- Advocate for clients' needs and provide emotional support to help them navigate their recovery journey
- Educate clients about the program's resources and community support services available to them
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of the Human Services field or an equivalent discipline
- One or more years of experience working with adults diagnosed with a mental health condition
- Specific knowledge in ethics, boundaries, and crisis intervention
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Reliable transportation
