Job Summary:

The Counselor will be responsible for providing counseling services to inmates, including group programming and meetings, individual counseling, case management services, and clinical documentation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field and be certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia or have a similar certification/license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling services to inmates, including group programming and meetings, individual counseling, case management services, and clinical documentation.
  • Work closely with Virginia Department of Corrections personnel to ensure quality services and promote a healing environment where people with substance use disorders can learn to live in recovery as returning citizens.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for inmates, including individualized counseling and group programming.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of inmates to determine their treatment needs and progress.
  • Collaborate with other treatment team members to ensure comprehensive care for inmates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field.
  • State certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the state of Virginia or similar certification/license recognized by the Virginia Board of Professional Counselors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
