Lighthouse Therapeutic Services is on the lookout for dedicated professionals to enhance our team. We are currently in search of a Practical Nurse Specialist who is enthusiastic, skilled, and ready to contribute to our growth.

About Us:
Lighthouse Therapeutic Services is a mental health and substance abuse agency that focuses on trauma-informed care and recovery. We are authorized by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to deliver ASAM Levels 2.1, 2.5, and 3.5 services.

Role Overview:
Under the guidance of a PMHNP, the Practical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive and empathetic healthcare services to individuals in addiction recovery. The ASAM 3.5 level of care signifies a moderate intensity residential treatment program, and your duties will primarily involve addressing the medical needs of residents in this environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments and monitor the health status of residents, documenting any changes or concerns.
  • Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications following established protocols and medical directives, while also monitoring and managing side effects. Educate residents on the significance of medication adherence and inform them about potential side effects.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with physicians, registered nurses, counselors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care for residents. Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss and coordinate individualized care plans.
  • Health Education: Provide health education to residents on various topics, including nutrition, wellness, and the impact of substance abuse on health. Conduct individual and group sessions to address specific health concerns and promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be ready to respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care, coordinating with external medical services when necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and current medical records for each resident, documenting all nursing interventions, assessments, and communications in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Support Services Coordination: Facilitate care coordination by connecting patients to clinical resources outside of Lighthouse Therapeutic Services through referrals, working alongside counselors and care advocates to help patients access social resources and navigate the healthcare system. Participate in discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including those established by ASAM and other relevant organizations. Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement activities to enhance the overall quality of care.

Candidate Qualifications:
  • Current and valid LPN license in Virginia.
  • Experience in addiction treatment or mental health settings is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and principles is a plus.

Working Conditions:
  • The position may require shift work, including evenings and weekends.
  • Adherence to infection control protocols and safety measures is essential.
