About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Desktop Services Administrator to join our team at Speedcast. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our computer systems and providing technical support to our global end-users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware and Software Management: Manage the software and hardware inventory, ensuring all equipment is correctly maintained and tracked.
  • Technical Support: Provide training to end-users on the use of all desktop-related hardware and software.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all desktop systems comply with the company's security policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with Infrastructure and Applications teams to maintain healthy systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve any hardware or software-related issues reported by end-users in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Infrastructure Support: Assist with IT infrastructure server setup and maintenance as requested by infrastructure team members.
  • Remote and On-Site Support: Support and troubleshoot end-users remotely and in-person.
  • Security and Access Management: Manage and maintain desktop security, including virus protection and software patching.
  • User Account Management: Manage user accounts and access rights, including file server access and onboarding/offboarding, with knowledge of Exchange and Azure AD.
  • Secret Server Management: Oversee Thycotic Secret Server, including granting and revoking access through the admin console.
  • Ticket Management: Monitor the ticket queue to ensure service tickets are resolved and closed in a timely manner, following up with end-users to confirm resolution.
  • Phone and Badge System Support: Support Microsoft Teams phone and the office badge system.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of practical experience with managing systems, networks, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with network and server configuration, security protocols, and data management. Extensive familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as related technologies (AD, Azure, GPO, Microsoft O365, Teams, Office Suite, Exchange, VMs, RDS, Endpoint Protection, Anywhere365, Proofpoint, Thinfinity, ServiceNow ticketing system, and Global Protect VPN).
  • Operating System Expertise: Expertise in various OSs such as Windows Server, Linux, Unix, and sometimes macOS.
  • Network and Security Knowledge: Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network security.
  • Server and Virtualization Experience: Experience with server installation, configuration, and maintenance. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
  • Scripting and Automation: Ability to write scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automating tasks.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Understanding of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work independently and manage multiple duties and priorities simultaneously. Capability to collaborate effectively with team members and end-users. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for technical issues. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+ / CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate in Spanish.
